For any of our guests looking for a horseback riding experience, there’s no better option than Black Butte Stables, found behind the General Store. Guided rides are open to those seven and older all year round.
The professional guides have been leading rides at The Ranch for more than two decades, which means they have worked with riders of all skill levels. Their collection of trail rides has something for everyone.
- For the youngest riders, check out “Little Buckaroo” rides, which are roughly 20 minutes long. Offered during the summer, parents can lead kids between three and six in the wooden corral.
- A new offering is the Little Loop ride. This approximately 30-minute ride is suitable for both first-time riders and those looking for a short tour through majestic trees.
- Those looking for a longer ride will enjoy Gobblers Knob. The extended ride over Indian Ford Creek lasts less than two hours and offers unbeatable views from Glaze Meadow of Three Sisters and Mount Washington.
- At two hours, Hole in the Wall Gang is an excellent option for intermediate guests. This ride, which travels around Glaze Meadow, does require trotting experience.
- For our most advanced riders, we recommend Reata Trail. Your backcountry experience, which includes a full lunch, can travel one of several routes, each with its own points of interest. The head wrangler can go over the options in more detail.
