From adrenaline-fueled mountain biking, skiing and rock climbing to more leisurely outdoor pursuits, it’s all within easy reach. If city life is more your thing, head to the vibrant Old West town of Sisters for shopping, dining, and some of the area’s best arts and culture.

Sisters Country Event
Take in a Sisters Country Event, including the Sisters Rodeo (June), world-renowned Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show (July) and Sisters Folk Festival (October).

Ranch Attractions
Shop Downtown Sisters, where you’ll find unique shops and gift items—from Western boots and outdoor gear to original art and custom jewelry. Shopping in Sisters is more than just retail therapy—it’s a cultural experience.

Go Cycling
Road cyclists will find a wide range of routes that challenge their stamina while offering spectacular mountain vistas. For the fat tire fan, Sisters presents a great network of trails, including the Peterson Ridge Loop, a mountain biker’s paradise on the south edge of town.

Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery
Take a trip to Camp Sherman and visit Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery. You’ll learn about the critical habitat of the Metolius River and the life cycle of fish. The hatchery lies alongside the roaring Metolius River and hiking trails along its banks lead you to striking Oregon scenery.

Dee Wright Observatory
Standing atop the windswept McKenzie Pass at 5,187 feet, the Dee Wright Observatory looks like the lonely lair of a robber baron. The view from the observatory is nothing short of spectacular, offering a panorama of the Cascades.

Backcountry Snowshoe
Snowshoeing is an excellent way to discover the quiet of snow-blanketed forests of Sisters Country. Upper Three Creeks Sno Park and Ray Benson Sno Park, near Hoodoo, are usually great bets for your snowshoe excursion.

Take a Hike
Sisters Country has endless opportunities for hikers. Explore wildflower-covered meadows or soak in magnificent alpine vistas, savor a leisurely afternoon stroll or go for an adventurous climb up Black Butte.

Cast Your
Fly Line
Fly fishers from around the world are drawn to this area to test their skills. The Metolius River offers challenging fly fishing in one of the nation’s most coveted settings.

Hit the Slopes
Carve your turns on skis or snowboards in the best snow in the Northwest. Located just 13 miles west of Black Butte Ranch, Hoodoo Ski Area offers a great family experience. Venture farther afield to the slopes of mighty Mt. Bachelor.

Black Butte Lookout
Hike BBR’s namesake in this 3.6 mile, 1,556 foot climb. Views of Cascade peaks and BBR await at the summit. Take a tour at Lookout Routes 1 & 2.

Metolius River
The Metolius River boasts blue waters and lush forests. From the Headwaters of the Metolius to the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery, the trails are mostly flat.
From BBR: take Hwy 20 west 2 miles, turn right at the Camp Sherman turnoff. Follow FS 14 to a fork and bear right. Continue 7.5 miles and turn left at the Fish Hatchery signs.

Camp Sherman Store

Sisters Tie Trail
This trail is a mix of old roads and single track, it runs 6.6 miles one-way with access points along its length.From BBR: take Hwy 20 west to Road 2060 (George McAllister Rd.) and turn left. Park near the intersection with Hwy 20.

Suttle Lake Trail
This flat 3.6 mile trail winds along the forested shore.From BBR: take Hwy 20 west 5 miles to the entrance of the Suttle Lake Campgrounds. The trail may be accessed from several points, including Cinder Beach near Suttle Lake Resort.

Jack Creek Trail
Jack Creek’s headwaters are fed by underground springs, and offers wildflowers and easy, flat terrain.From BBR: take Hwy 20 west 5.8 miles to FS 12. Turn right on FS 12 for 1.5 miles, then left on FS 1232 for 1 mile.

McKenzie River Waterfalls
The McKenzie River Trail offers a 3 mile loop with beautiful forests and views of Sahalie and Koosah Falls. From BBR: Head west 18 miles on Hwy 20. Take a left at the Santiam “Y” to stay on Hwy 20, then turn left on Hwy 126 toward Eugene. Turn right at the sign for Sahalie Falls.

Proxy Falls
This easy loop trail of 1.25 miles is one of the most photographed spots in Oregon.
From Sisters: At the roundabout take the first exit onto McKinney Butte Rd. Turn right on Hwy 242 (open seasonally)for 26.6 miles. When Hwy 242 is closed, access the falls via Hwy 126 across from Belknap Hot Springs.
