Biking On and Off the Ranch

Black Butte Ranch has 23.4 miles of paved trails, giving guests boundless opportunities to survey the Ranch by bike. The Black Butte Ranch Bike Map contains a map of the trail system, along with suggested rides for your enjoyment. Glaze Meadow Rental Shop has a versatile fleet of bikes with something for everyone. Wheel Fun bikes, offered through Lakeside Activity Center, are also available. These unique bikes, seating one to six people, are a fun way for families to explore the Ranch together.

Off the Ranch, biking opportunities are endless. Sisters Country is one of the premier mountain biking regions in the state, and is a silver-level bicycle-friendly community, as designated by the League of American Bicyclists. Sisters is home to two Scenic Bikeways: McKenzie Pass and Sisters to Smith Rock State Park. The best known and most popular trails include the Peterson Ridge Trail System, BBR to Suttle Lake Trail, the Suttle Tie Trail between Black Butte Ranch and Camp Sherman and the nearby McKenzie River Trail, which is widely regarded as one of the great epic bike trails in North America. For details on great rides and more, visit the cycling page at Sisters Country.

The Sisters Trail Alliance maintains trails around Sisters Country, along with the US Forest Service, the City of Sisters, Sisters Chamber of Commerce, Sisters School District and Sisters Parks and Recreation District. Some of the routes are near the Ranch. Check trail options at the Sisters Trail Alliances.

Check the Geo-referenced Sisters Area Trails System Map for an overview.

Bike Path Safety

Certain portions of the bike paths (heavily wooded areas, steep downhill stretches and intersections with driveways and roadways) require the use of extreme caution by users.  At no time should any bicyclist exceed 15 MPH on any bike path.  Ride safe. Wear a helmet.  Use caution at all intersections.

BBR Now Welcomes Electric Bicycles

(That is, if they are registered….)

New this season is BBR Rule 5.3 allowing Electric Bikes to be owned and operated on the Ranch by our owners and registered guests. If you have interest in learning more about the use restrictions and registration requirements for electric bikes, please click here or reach out to our Equipment Rental Shop today – call 541-595-5877.  Helmets are required for ALL riders of electric bikes, regardless of age.
