Look ahead: Demo Days & Tent Sale among highlights of busy May at Black Butte Ranch

Shopping for new golf clubs can be intimidating. Without professional help, finding just the right fit is often impossible. And with so many manufacturers, opportunities to truly comparison shop with a vast array of equipment all in one place is rare.

This is exactly why Black Butte Ranch began hosting its annual Memorial Day Demo Days & Tent Sale. Scheduled for May 28 and 29, the annual event is among the marquee events during a busy May.

Held at the driving range of Big Meadow, NikeGolf, Ping, TaylorMade, Cobra, Titleist, and Bridgestone Golf will all be on hand for any and all to come and test out each company’s newest innovations. Apparel companies will also be showing off their wares.

“It really is a fun event and it is the very best way to shop for new equipment, with all the latest and greatest products on hand for all to try out,” said Jeff Fought, Black Butte Ranch’s director of golf.

The Tent Sale will provide the bargains. Much of the equipment and clothing that has been stocking the golf shop shelves at Big Meadow and Glaze Meadow. Clubs, balls and Black Butte Ranch logo apparel will be offered well below retail.

The demo days will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The tent sale will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. It’s a heck of a way to tee off the summer golf season.

Of course, there is much more coming in a busy May, including new rates:

  • The annual hat deal is ending of course. But great rates can still be had. Through May 19, golfers can play 18 holes in prime time at either Big Meadow or Glaze Meadow for $54. After 1 p.m. that rate drops to $49. Golfers with a bit less time on their hands can play nine holes after 2 p.m. for $29. On May 20, our shoulder season rates begin: $69 in prime time, $59 after 1 p.m., and $39 for nine holes after 3 p.m.

Don’t forget, our spring and fall stay-and-play packages will continue through May 26. Our shoulder season packages begin at $99 per guest, per night, and one round of golf is included with each night stayed. Add $45 per person, per night for unlimited golf at both golf courses.

Come on out and enjoy the pristine conditions at Black Butte Ranch.

  • The first golf clinics of the season tee off in May. Designed help a golfer sharpen his or her skills for the season, Black Butte Ranch’s staff of PGA professionals will launch its annual spring tune-up program (May 2-4, May 9-11, May 16-18, and May 23-25). For $110, students spend three days in small groups with our pros going over the fundamentals of the game, including chipping, putting, full swing and bunker play.

  • Competitive golfers might also want to take a swing at one of the most popular charity events in Central Oregon. Open to the public, the 17th Annual Central Oregon will be played May 19-20 and will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Cost is $135 per individual or $500 per foursome. With Big Meadow set to be “more fun,” and Glaze Meadow slated to be “more competitive,” this Black Butte Ranch tradition is bound to be enjoyed by all. Register online.

On May 16, Big Meadow will host the Hospitality Cup Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble open to businesses in the hospitality industry.
