The road to better golf is so often uncertain for amateur golfers. We read and watch an endless array of golf tips, we tinker with our swing, and all of us are in a constant search to find the perfect equipment that will launch our games forward.
All those have a place in game improvement, no doubt. But perhaps a more trustworthy path to better golf is to seek early season help from a PGA professional.
Sure, we have all heard that before. But it’s true, PGA professionals can really make a difference, particularly in the early season. And that goes for golfers of all skill levels.
The reason why spring makes an ideal time to seek help from a golf pro is obvious enough.
“It is always beneficial to have a PGA professional take a look at your swing before you develop any bad habits,” said Tom Baker, head golf professional at Black Butte Ranch.
With this in mind, the golf professionals at Black Butte Ranch are once again offering their three-day spring tune-up clinics throughout May.
With four series in all (May 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, and 23-25), each session is comprised of three, 1.5-hour lessons and are held in a small group setting. Black Butte Ranch instructors focus on refining a golfer’s basic short-game and full-swing fundamentals.
“It’s the start of the year and it’s time to refine your fundamentals,” Baker said. “We want to refine your swing thoughts, too. With three straight days of clinics, we will get you back into the groove of the golf swing, and train your muscle memory again.
“It’s a friendly, fun atmosphere, yet personalized at the same time,” Baker added.
Each session begins at 2 p.m. Cost to attend each three-day clinic is just $110. And perhaps best of all, each student can enjoy a nine-hole round after every 1.5-hour class.
“That’s a great bonus,” Baker said of the three nine-hole rounds.
