Paulina Spring Headwaters Restoration Project

Status Update: PROJECT COMPLETE!

In August, we shared a concept plan outlining a proposed restoration project for the Paulina Spring headwaters area. That plan included designated zones for headwaters viewing, streambank access, and a quiet downstream area, all designed to better protect this sensitive headwater ecosystem while maintaining access for Ranchowners and guests.

Since then, work has already begun. Paved bike parking areas are now in place on both sides of the spring along the bike path. These additions help reduce off‑trail impacts and prepare the site for the larger restoration effort.

The design for the full project is now finalized, and Wild Shepherd Functional Habitats has been selected as the design build contractor. Their team specializes in restoration work within fragile ecosystems and brings additional expertise in native planting and long‑term habitat recovery.

Continued high use of the Paulina Spring area has begun to outpace the site’s ability to recover naturally. This has resulted in bank erosion, exposed tree roots, and reduced shade from stressed vegetation. The restoration project is intended to reverse these conditions through targeted streamside restoration, native plantings, clearly defined exclusion zones, and the use of durable materials. These improvements will allow vegetative islands to recover, stabilize streambanks, and reduce future impacts.

Construction began on April 21st and is scheduled to be completed by June 30th. During this time, we ask that Ranchowners respect posted signage and remain outside of roped‑off areas to ensure the success and safety of the project. Once construction is complete, you can continue to support the restoration by staying on designated paths and allowing newly planted areas the space they need to recover.
