THE QUILT SHOW AT BLACK BUTTE RANCH
Quilts for Kids is a national organization, but the local Sisters group is a separate entity. The local group give away a remarkable 150 quilts a year! Deschutes County Sheriff Department, Toys for Tots, Head Start in Redmond, 2 preschool classes in Sisters, and the BBR Police Department are some of the receiving groups. For the preschool classes, one gets quilts, the other pillowcases. The ladies in the Sisters group make their quilts at home, each of them, but also come together to sew in the classroom at the Stitchin’ Post about once a month. Peggy’s Pin Pals makes the quilts with fabric donated from group members and constructed together as a group at our regular weekly meetings, with finishing often done in members’ homes. The completed quilts are taken to the Sisters group to be donated. This year our group completed 20 quilts that will be on display at this year’s Quilt Show at Black Butte Ranch.
