Black Butte Nature Night: Are You Bat Crazy?
Join us for our second Black Butte Nature Night!
Date: Tuesday, August 13, 2024
Time: 8:00 – 9:30 pm
Location: Sports Field Picnic Pavilion (introductory talk), followed by a walk along the meadow path to observe and listen to bat behavior
Equipment: Please bring flashlights or headlamps as we will be walking after dark
Please join us in welcoming Sara Rose, the Project Lead for the Northwest Bat Hub at OSU-Cascades, for our second Nature Night. Sara will start with a brief talk about bats in general, and more specifically bats in the Pacific Northwest. Then, we will actually wander outside along the meadow path while she demonstrates specialized bat-detecting equipment and describes the Bat Hub’s monitoring projects. We will participate in helping Sara detect what kind of bats are hanging out at Black Butte Ranch! All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event.
Black Butte Nature Nights are co-sponsored by Black Butte Conservancy and BBR’s NRC. For further questions about the event, please contact BBC representative Nancy Hinnen at blackbutteconservancy@gmail.com.
