Do not put those golf clubs away just yet. After all, the weather forecast shows that the week ahead has all the makings of a spectacular stretch for golf.

For some, early October in Central Oregon can often be a welcoming time for golfers, filled with 70-degree sunny days and golf courses that have left the summer crowds behind. For those who give up on golf too early, October can mark a missed opportunity.

If the forecast holds, the first part of October this year appears to be among the best stretches of fall weather on record.

In addition, the Black Butte Ranch maintenance staff has been hard at work preparing both Big Meadow and Glaze Meadow for two golf tournaments. The Fall Tour Invitational, a pro-am that has served as an annual tradition at Black Butte Ranch since the 1980s, was played at Glaze Meadow on Wednesday and Big Meadow on Thursday. And The Battle at the Butte Invitational, which is a Black Butte Ranch signature event, will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

“The golf courses are in great shape right now,” says Phil Lagao, Black Butte Ranch’s golf course superintendent. “I am really pleased with the way the end of the season has come together.”

The best part is that despite the golf course being in peak condition, golf at Black Butte Ranch has rarely been more affordable. Black Butte Ranch has lowered its daily fee for the remainder of the season. And special fall stay-and-play packages include unlimited golf and begin at just $119 per person per night.
