Lower rates help stretch the golf season into fall at Black Butte Ranch

The leaves of the aspen trees at Black Butte Ranch are beginning to show their autumn colors. The mornings are a bit more crisp. The sun is chased away a bit sooner each evening.

Yes, fall is officially here.

But golfers should not put away their golf clubs … at least not yet. Fall can actually be a pleasant and affordable time of the year to squeeze in a few rounds.

On Oct.1, Black Butte Ranch will be lowering its rates for the remainder of the golf season. Green fees will drop to $47 during prime time (down from $67), $42 after 1 p.m., and to $27 for nine-hole rounds.

The best part is that both golf courses should remain in excellent shape well into October.

“Our courses will be in peak condition,” says Tom Baker, head professional at Black Butte Ranch. “And the greens will be absolutely perfect.”

More than great conditions, though, golfers in the know receive a bonus. Too often golfers give up on the season a touch too early, even if Central Oregon usually remains sunny with high temperatures that typically reach the mid-60s.

That means that unlike the busiest times of year, golfers can play in comfortable weather and often as quickly as they choose.

“It’s usually pretty quiet in terms of the number of golfers, so those who do play can usually play at their own pace,” Baker adds.

Glaze Meadow will close for the season on Oct. 19. Big Meadow will stay open through October, if weather permits.
