Lot Certification Update
These are pictures of the needle pile
amassed in Section 5. It is clear that homeowners are
beginning to realize that Lot Certification means
clearing pine needles from their lot. For those
homeowners who have "contributed" to this needle pile,
we say thanks. To all others, we urge you to rake and
dispose of your needles. Remember that the Lot
Certification volunteer lot inspectors will not approve
any lot with significant accumulations of needles within
the Primary Zone of a 30' radius from your residence.
The volunteers have begun their lot
inspections. We have 15 volunteers to tackle the some
600+ requests from homeowners for lot inspections. So be
patient. Remember that your requests are being handled
by a corps of "volunteers." We will hold another
training class for additional inspectors on 15 May.
As the completed inspections are returned
by the inspector to the Lot Certification Office, you
will be notified by letter of the results.
The inspector's name and phone number will
be in that letter.
Thank you all for support of this
effort....and special thanks to the volunteers and Lot
Certification Office staff.

New Lot Certification
Class
Rodger Gabrielson
On
May 15, 2008
at the Firehall from 10:00AM
- 12:00PM,
Tom Andrade, Oregon Department of Forestry, will present
a class for folks interested in helping with the BBR Lot
Certification Program by volunteering to be State of
Oregon Accredited Assessors. The Program needs more
Accredited Assessors. As you may know, the BBR Lot
Certification Office has received approximately 600
requests from homeowners for lot inspections for
compliance with SB 360 fuels mitigation standards. Nine
Assessors from the first class have already begun to
inspect lots. They will be joined next week by another 6
BBR volunteer Assessors, but with such an overwhelming
response from homeowners, we need help. By joining the
volunteer corps, you will operate as an independent
agent, inspecting lots at your convenience applying the
techniques that Tom Andrade will teach on May 15. So
please step forward. 600 fellow homeowners are reaching
out for our help. Here's our chance to play a front-line
role in helping our beloved Ranch better prepare to
survive the continuing onslaught of forest fires. Call
me if you can attend on May 15 so I can have a packet of
class materials ready for you. Recruit a friend to come
along! I can be reached occasionally at home at:
595-5655, and ALWAYS on my cell:
503-413-0754. |

The
Golf Club 2008 Resort
Cup
The
annual competition between Black Butte Ranch, Eagle
Crest, Widgi Creek and Sunriver kicks off on
Tuesday, May
13 at Big Meadow. We need 10 players
with both high and low handicaps to represent BBR. It is
a shotgun start at 8:24AM.
Last year
we finished second, but had it not been for our fire
evacuation, we likely would have won the trophy. We were
forced to play short handed at Widgi Creek so we
couldn't throw out our worst score.
If you
are interested in playing on May
13, please email Bill
Carson. In the past we have had a qualifier,
but this year the plan is to reward those who want to
participate. We will select a team based on interest and
by lot if we have more than 10 sign up. Marv Hoff will
Captain the team, so let us know as soon as you decide
if you would like to participate, so we can let everyone
know who will be playing.
Oregon Golf Association Day
Monday, May 19
Rules
seminar and "Beat the Pro" for all club members (men and
women)
A Rules official from the
OGA will be here at 10:00AM, Monday, May 19 and
will give a rules seminar at the Big Meadow Restaurant.
After the seminar we'll have a "Beat the Pro"
tournament.
This is one of those years
when the USGA modifies the rules and several new rules
go into effect, so it's a good year to
attend.
Total cost is $10, which
covers the seminar and a $10 credit to the Pro Shop. If
you "Beath the Pro" you can turn that $10 Pro Shop
credit into $20. Pretty hard to lose - sign up at either
Pro Shop.
