2008
Board Member Elections
Five
Candidate Profiles were received by the April 22, 2008
deadline. Matt Baker (GM 4), Doug Pollack (SM 195), Gary
Rubenstein (GM 251) and Gary Seitz (SM 190) join
incumbent Ruth Burk (GM 201) on the ballot. The three
receiving the most votes will begin three year terms
after the June 21, 2008 Black Butte Ranch Association
Annual Meeting. In early May, owners will receive an
election packet which will include the Candidate
Profiles, a Proxy and a return mailing envelope. Only
one owner per property is eligible to vote. Candidate
profiles are also available here.

|
The BBRA Annual Meeting will take place Saturday,
June 21, 2008 at the Maintenance building on
McAllister Road, 71225 George McAllister Rd. (Section
5). The meeting begins at 9:00AM. Following the meeting
will be the annual picnic for the owners at the Sports
Field at noon. Please RSVP to 595-1505 if you plan on
attending the
picnic. |
What's going up? We're building a new Welcome
Center, in which all guests visiting
the Ranch will register to obtain entrance to our
access-controlled community. Additional services for
property owner vehicle registration and identification
cards will be handled here as well. Completion is
scheduled for late 2008 and occupancy in early 2009.
This project is the final phase of the Major Improvement
Projects approved in 2005 and is funded by the Black
Butte Ranch Property Owners. You can
watch the Welcome Center progress online by

Please Lend a Hand
The Lot Certification Office has 1 full
time staff person. That Office would welcome volunteers
to assist with the staggering amount of paperwork
associated with the start-up phase of the Lot
Certification Program. To date, the Office is faced with
over 600 requests from Homeowners for lot inspections.
Each request must be logged and assigned to a BBR
volunteer Accredited Assessor. Assessor inspection
reports must be tracked. Approved lots must be
registered with the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Homeowners must be advised of the status of their lots.
Just following the ebb and flow of the requests, forms,
letters and reports needs more helping hands.
Any...any....any time you could offer to the Office next
week would help. The Office is located in the Ranch
Maintenance Office in the new Section 5 Maintenance
Building. Simply walk-in...or call ahead...to lend a
hand. So, ladies AND gentlemen, talk to Susie, Claire or
Michelle. They answer the phone at:
595-1527. |
New Lot Certification
Class
Rodger Gabrielson
On
May 15, 2008
at the Firehall from 10:00AM
- 12:00PM,
Tom Andrade, Oregon Department of Forestry, will present
a class for folks interested in helping with the BBR Lot
Certification Program by volunteering to be State of
Oregon Accredited Assessors. The Program needs more
Accredited Assessors. As you may know, the BBR Lot
Certification Office has received approximately 600
requests from homeowners for lot inspections for
compliance with SB 360 fuels mitigation standards. Nine
Assessors from the first class have already begun to
inspect lots. They will be joined next week by another 6
BBR volunteer Assessors, but with such an overwhelming
response from homeowners, we need help. By joining the
volunteer corps, you will operate as an independent
agent, inspecting lots at your convenience applying the
techniques that Tom Andrade will teach on May 15. So
please step forward. 600 fellow homeowners are reaching
out for our help. Here's our chance to play a front-line
role in helping our beloved Ranch better prepare to
survive the continuing onslaught of forest fires. Call
me if you can attend on May 15 so I can have a packet of
class materials ready for you. Recruit a friend to come
along! I can be reached occasionally at home at:
595-5655, and ALWAYS on my cell:
503-413-0754. |
Lot
Certification

Update
The
Lot Certification Office has mailed out information on
how to certify their lot to the standards of Senate Bill
360 to each homeowner. The State of Oregon and the BBR
Board of Directors require compliance with these
standards and certification to the Oregon Department of
Forestry that each lot meets those standards. Volunteer
BBR homeowners have been trained by the State of Oregon
to assist other homeowners in assessing their lots for
compliance. The Lot Certification Office coordinates
these volunteers. The Office has begun to receive
completed request forms from homeowners for a volunteer
assessment. The Office will begin to dispatch the
volunteer assessors on May
1.
Meanwhile,
the State of Oregon Department of Forestry is completing
the final testing of a new computerized database of lots
at BBR. They advise that the new database should be
completed and operational in
mid-May. |

The
Golf Club 2008
Resort Cup
The
annual competition between Black Butte Ranch, Eagle
Crest, Widgi Creek and Sunriver kicks off on
Tuesday, May
13 at Big Meadow. We need 10 players
with both high and low handicaps to represent BBR. It is
a shotgun start at 8:24AM.
Last year
we finished second, but had it not been for our fire
evacuation, we likely would have won the trophy. We were
forced to play short handed at Widgi Creek so we
couldn't throw out our worst score.
If you
are interested in playing on May 13, please email Bill
Carson. In the past we have had a qualifier,
but this year the plan is to reward those who want to
participate. We will select a team based on interest and
by lot if we have more than 10 sign up. Marv Hoff will
Captain the team, so let us know as soon as you decide
if you would like to participate, so we can let everyone
know who will be playing.
See You on the
