Black Butte Ranch will host a USTA tennis tournament June 26 – 28. The event is a fundraiser for the Sister High School boys tennis team and the tennis program for Crook County Park and Rec. The tournament directors are Lloyd Rodgers of Crook County and Boyd Stuwe, SHS boys tennis coach. The tournament will be a Junior Challenger and Adult NTRP tournament.Tournament brochure

Greg Smith, USPTA, offers group and private lessons to both adults and juniors from mid-June through Labor Day.
Greg Smith, USPTA Professional 1, has directed luxury resort tennis programs since 1985, including the renowned Four Seasons Resort Nevis in the West Indies. Greg has directed Black Butte Ranch's tennis program since 1996. Greg has played in professional events, and served as Assistant Men's Coach for the University of Oregon from 1996-2000. Currently he is the Racquet Sports Coordinator at the U of O. In addition, Greg has created a unique Tennis/Yoga Workshop Clinic. |
Tennis Lessons, Workshops and Classes
BBR group tennis lessons are offered at Glaze Meadow Courts #13 & 14. Each lesson is limited to 8 participants, with a minimum of 2 people required.
The tennis program runs from June 15-September 7, 2009.
Adult Stroke of the Day
Learn and solidify tennis stroke fundamentals and strategies in a lively and challenging format. Each day will introduce a different aspect of the game. 9:00AM-10:00AM, $20

Advanced Adult Drills & Play

Junior Clinic: Youth Class 1
A class for young juniors, ages 6-8, who are just beginning or who have had some experience but need to develop their skills and learn to play games. M/W 3:00PM-4:00PM $15 (6-8 years)
Junior Clinic: Youth Class 2
For 9-12 year olds, this class features fundamental skill development in a challenging yet recreational atmosphere. T/Th 3:00PM-4:00PM $15 (9-12 years)
Private Lessons
• Private: $35.00 per ½ hour or $60.00/hour
• Semi-private: + $5.00/ person per ½ hour to private rate.

Tennis Court Reservations |

Court Reservations 541-595-1285
BBR has 23 tennis courts clustered throughout the Ranch. Court reservations are required Memorial Day through Labor Day. Reservations may be made at the Rec Center for 1 day prior to play, or the day of play from 7:00AM-8:00PM. Time is limited to 2 hrs/homesite/day; 1 hour may be on lighted courts. Homesite and phone numbers are needed to reserve a court. Call 595.1285 or stop by the Rec Center.
Cancellations & Late Arrivals
If unable to keep your reservation, call 595-1285 at least 1 hour prior to court time. Court times will be held for 10 minutes past the scheduled time, and then released for open play.

No reservations required. Play is limited to one hour.

Tennis Players List
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Glaze Meadow Tennis Office keeps a list of people interested in playing tennis. Stop by the Tennis Office and sign up on the bulletin board or call 595-1206 and leave your name, ability level and phone number or talk with the Tennis Pro.
Adult Drop-in Tennis
Drop in at Glaze Meadow courts # 10-12 from 7:30/8:00AM-10:00AM and play pick-up games.
“Men’s Day” is Tuesday, “Ladies’ Day” is Wednesday and “Mixed Doubles” play on Thursdays.

Tennis Racket Rentals
Tennis rackets may be rented from the Rental Shop. Tennis balls are sold at both the Rental Shop and the Lodge Shop.

Make your racket sing again. For stringing service, contact Greg Smith at the BBR Tennis Office at Glaze Meadow or call 595-1285.
