NEW BIG MEADOW RATING & SLOPE (6/20/05)

The OGA has re-rated and assigned slope ratings to the new tees at Big Meadow.

For the women we received ratings for both the red and white tees:

Red: 70.1 &126

White 73.8 & 133

For the men, the white, blue and black tees were rated:

White: 68.3 & 118

Blue: 70.2 & 123

Black 71.6 & 125

These new ratings appear on the handicap computer, so please make certain you're recording scores from the proper tees. A mistake can impact your handicap.

The women have been invited to create a "Combo" set of tees for tournament play. They would use a combination of the reds and whites and the OGA will assign a rating and slope.

The men plan to create a "Combo" of the blues and blacks that would be used for the scratch flight of the Club Championship.

New scorecards will be ordered using the new ratings.

Big Meadow 10
Hole 10: Par 5, Handicap 2 - Blue 526, White 508, Red 457
It is tempting to try to cut the corner but often the risk is greater than the reward.
A long second shot positions you for an easy chip into a long, narrow green.

Big Meadow 11
Hole 11: Par 4, Handicap 10
A beautiful view of the Three Sisters distracts your drive.
A long drive clears the bunker on the right. If unsure, aim left and/or short.

Big Meadow 12
Hole 12: Par 4, Handicap 4 - Blue 390, White 356, Red 310
Position is important for a second shot to the green. Use a little more club up the hill on approach. Toughest putting green on the course, that slopes from back to front with a ridge in the middle.

Big Meadow 13
Hole 13: Par 3, Handicap 18 - Blue 156, White 143, Red 127
Take an extra club to reach this uphill green, which has two tiers and slopes
toward the tee. Bunkers front left and right.
....................................................................................................................................
Big Meadow 14
Hole 14: Par 4, Handicap 12 - Blue 417, White 383, Red 349
The signature hole for Big Meadow with a beautiful view of Three Fingered Jack in the background to compliment this downhill par 4. Enjoy the view but keep your drive in the center to avoid fairway bunkers.

Big Meadow 15
Hole 15: Par 4, Handicap 16 - Blue 349, White 310, Red 277
An accurate tee shot is must off the tee through a narrow chute to leave you with a short to mid-iron to this elevated green. On the drive, there's more landing area to the left than appears from the tee.
....................................................................................................................................
Big Meadow 16
Hole 16: Par 5, Handicap 8 - Blue 508, White 488, Red 445
Short double dogleg, where shot position is critical. Drive down the middle. Keep your second shot to the left to avoid bunker on the right. Long hitters can get home in two. Flat green tempts an eagle.
....................................................................................................................................
Big Meadow 17
Hole 17: Par 3, Handicap 6 - Blue 228, White 213, Red 153
A good par three with bunkers left and right of the green.
Following wind usually from the left. Black Butte looms ahead.
....................................................................................................................................
Big Meadow 18
Hole 18: Par 4, Handicap 14 - Blue 388, White 373, Red 327
An excellent finishing hole. Long hitters must watch out for the water hazard to the left off the tee but you can easily fly the fairway bunker on the right. Make the putt, card a birdie and head for the clubhouse!
