NEW BIG MEADOW RATING & SLOPE (6/20/05)

The OGA has re-rated and assigned slope ratings to the new tees at Big Meadow.

For the women we received ratings for both the red and white tees:

Red: 70.1 &126

White 73.8 & 133

For the men, the white, blue and black tees were rated:

White: 68.3 & 118

Blue: 70.2 & 123

Black 71.6 & 125

These new ratings appear on the handicap computer, so please make certain you're recording scores from the proper tees. A mistake can impact your handicap.

The women have been invited to create a "Combo" set of tees for tournament play. They would use a combination of the reds and whites and the OGA will assign a rating and slope.

The men plan to create a "Combo" of the blues and blacks that would be used for the scratch flight of the Club Championship.

New scorecards will be ordered using the new ratings.

bm 2 bm 2 bm 2
Hole 2: Par 4, Handicap 15- Blue 361, White 343, Red 296
Favor the left side to avoid the bunker on the right and for a better angle into a long green, which narrows towards the back.

bm 3 bm 3 bm 3
Hole 3: Par 5, Handicap 3 - Blue 551, White 536, Red 491
A straight drive is a must. On the second shot, avoid the bunker 125 yds. short of the green as the fairway narrows. Everyone hopes for a birdie here.

bm 4 bm 4 bm 4
Hole 4: Par 3, Handicap 17 - Blue 169, White 159, Red 133
A bit uphill and the wind is generally against you. Use a little extra club into this large, undulating green.

bm 5 bm 5 bm 5
Hole 5: Par 4, Handicap 9 - Blue 432, White 398, Red 344
Downhill off the tee. Stay to the right center of the fairway, which should leave you a mid-iron for your second shot. Green has a slight crown in the middle.

bm 6 bm 6 bm 6
Hole 6: Par 4, Handicap 5 - Blue 417, White 397, Red 339
Tee shot is best placed between the bunker and trees on the right. Hit your most accurate club off the tee. Aim at the left side of the green on approach, to avoid deep bunker on the right. Be happy with a par on this demanding hole.

bm7
Hole 7: Par 5, Handicap 1 - Blue 576, White 556, Red 496
Usually plays downwind. Long hitters can end up through the fairway on the right.
Avoid the fairway bunker on the right for the second shot.

bm 8
Hole 8: Par 3, Handicap 7 - Blue 228, White 190 or 170, Red 148
This long par 3 has a large green surrounded by bunkers. Prevailing wind from the right.
....................................................................................................................................
bm 9
Hole 9: Par 4, Handicap 13
Favor the left side to avoid bunkers. Long hitters may try to carry the fairway bunkers on the right for an easy wedge to the green. Stop by the Snack Bar on the turn.
