Glaze Meadow Golf Renovation
Glaze Meadow Golf Course Renovation Information
In 1970, the opening of the Big Meadow course at Black Butte Ranch helped put Central Oregon on the map as a premier golf destination. 42 years later, the grand re-opening in 2012 of the resort’s second 18-hole championship course, Glaze Meadow, is once again drawing golfers to a region unmatched for its beauty, variety, and abundance of incredible golf.
Acclaimed designer John Fought — brother of Black Butte Ranch Director of Golf Jeff Fought — was brought in to complete a $3.5 million overhaul of Glaze Meadow, including rebuilding all 18 greens and tee boxes, clearing trees to improve sightlines and increase shotmaking options, and lengthening the course from 6,574 to 7,007 yards.
This extraordinary redesign is reminiscent of classic designs by Donald Ross or Harry Colt, with slightly elevated greens, square tee boxes and deep grass faced bunkers.
When it reopens this spring, Glaze Meadow will be a worthy complement to its famed older sibling, giving vacationers one more reason to add an extra day or two to their stay at this one-of-a-kind Central Oregon resort.

We have been able to spend time with John Fought, gaining a better understanding of his design philosophy, impressions of Glaze Meadow Golf Course and walked some holes with him. You can also access past videos and interviews at the Ranch's You Tube Channel.
We remind all owners and guests to please obey all closures of bike paths and do not cross ropes and signage onto the golf course property. This is for safety of the construction crews, the safety of homeowners, guests and will allow us to grow the golf course grass to ensure an enjoyable playing experience for everyone. We appreciate your cooperation in staying off the site until it is ready for play.

John Fought, one of the country's foremost golf course architects, has been selected to lead the design efforts for the project.
