BLACK BUTTE RANCH FIRE INFORMATION UPDATE

Fire Information Bulletin

BBR Emergency Preparedness Plan: Information only

Level 0

Level 0 of the Black Butte Ranch Emergency Plan - information only

We have stepped down from LEVEL 1 of the BBR Emergency plan and have returned to normal status.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

Fire Bulletin #5, Tuesday, July 1, 2008 8:50am

Good morning – The fire which began on Sunday afternoon is now considered out.  It was limited to less than one acre due to the quick work by firefighters and the rain that followed the lightning.  We have stepped down from Phase 1 of the BBR Emergency plan and have returned to normal status.

Afternoon thundershowers and lightning are forecasted for the next few days, so we will continue to monitor the situation until later in the week, when our usual sunny and dry weather is supposed to return.

Fire Bulletin #4, Monday June 30, 2008, 3:30 PM

The heat of the afternoon and the winds from the south have recently brought a significant amount of smoke on to the Ranch.  BBR fire officials have informed us that this smoke is not from yesterday’s small fire near the Ranch.  The smoke is likely from fires to the south of us, in California.

The small lightning caused fire west of the Ranch, reported yesterday afternoon, is under control and mop up work is continuing. Ground crews are still on site there and we are not concerned.  Officials note that yesterday’s fire was confined to an area less than an acre in size.

We are remaining in Phase 1 of the Black Butte Ranch Emergency Plan only as a precaution.  Phase 1 means “fire in the area, NOT threatening the Ranch.” There is no cause for alarm at this time.  We hope to cease the Phase 1 notification by tomorrow, if conditions are favorable.

We will update this report when further information becomes available.  Thank you.

Fire Bulletin #3, Monday, June 30, 2008, 8:30am: Good morning:  The most recent news on yesterday’s lightning caused fire, southwest of the Ranch, is that the quick action of the fire crews and the rain that followed the lightning storm, kept the area of the fire to less than an acre in size.  Fire crews are doing mop up work on the site today and will continue to monitor the area as temperatures rise and winds pick up later today.  So, we’re in good shape for now.  If there is any further news, we will let you know.

Fire Bulletin #2 , Sunday, June 29, 2008, 8:00pm: A small fire was reported this afternoon in the area 2 1/2 miles SW of the Ranch near Graham Butte (NOT Graham Corral.) The fire was likely caused by lightening.
USFS ground crews and a helicopter with a water bucket worked on the fire and crews have placed a water hose completely around the fire. Ground crews will remain on the fire overnight.

We are in LEVEL 1 of the BBR Emergency Plan, fire in area, not threatening the Ranch. There is no cause for alarm. This report will be updated when further information is available.
