The emerald green turf of Black Butte Ranch’s Big Meadow is springing to life. The names of would-be golfers are suddenly filling the tee sheet. The unmistakeable sound of club meeting golf ball echoes through the air. Black Butte Ranch’s maintenance crew is working hard to ready Glaze Meadow for the season.

Everywhere you turn at Black Butte Ranch there are clear signs that the golf season is beginning to take hold. And with the forecast showing a relatively balmy weekend ahead, Big Meadow is sure to offer its spring best.

Weather is not the only thing at Black Butte Ranch that has golfers excited. One unique and unmistakable sign that the golf season is in full bloom at Black Butte Ranch is the annual hat deal.

Through April, a golfer can play Black Butte Ranch for just $44. In addition, golfers will receive a free Black Butte Ranch golf cap with a paid green fee. And the annual hat deal, which ends on April 30, has been made even more special with unlimited golf during the day.

“44 bucks to play 36 holes: who wouldn’t want to come do that?” said Jeff Fought, Black Butte Ranch’s director of golf. “With unlimited golf, we think it’s the best deal in town.”

A great deal is only part of the excitement around Black Butte Ranch these days. The preview opening of Glaze Meadow is also nearing, and the maintenance staff is making its final preparations.

The Central Oregon Shootout will be held at Big Meadow from April 28-30. To accommodate every golfer who wants to play, Black Butte Ranch will be offering a sneak preview of Glaze Meadow by opening the course to the public for those three days only. Glaze Meadow will close again on Monday, May 1, and reopen for the season on Friday, May 12.

And yes, the hat deal will be available for those three days at Glaze Meadow.

The good news for golfers is that both Big Meadow and Glaze Meadow are in surprisingly good shape.

“I’m telling you, the greens and tees are in the best condition coming out of winter that I have ever seen in my 16 years at Black Butte Ranch,” Fought said. “Both courses are in really good shape.”
