Black Butte Ranch Map and Helpful Tips

Black Butte Ranch can be overwhelming for first time visitors to our Central Oregon resort and destination.  The Ranch consists of 1251 home sites with 33 miles of private roadways, 18 miles of bike paths, two 18-hole championship golf courses, 19 tennis courts, five swimming pools, three main dining areas, retail shops, a spa and general store.

The Ranch is divided into sections including Golf Home in the northwest, East Meadow in the northeast, Spring Home, South Meadow, and Rock Ridge in the center and Glaze Meadow in the south. There also are three sets of condominiums and various cluster-cabins.

Helpful Tips to Enjoy the Ranch

Display Your Registration Tag
The security and peace of mind we all enjoy here are assured by our police knowing that those on the Ranch belong here. Failure to display your registration tag on your windshield, or letting others use your Ranch Pass is against Black Butte Ranch rules and will result in a fine. Use common courtesy and think about others, who are also here to enjoy the Ranch. The Ranch will be safer, quieter and more relaxed if we all slow down. The speed limit is 25 MPH, or less.

Please Use the Bike Paths
Leave the roads for the vehicles - we’ll all be safer. Drivers can’t see people for the trees, so be sure to STOP at all road crossings. Helmets are required for all in-line skaters, scooters and bike riders, under age 16. WALK around all buildings. Skateboards are not permitted.

Where Can I Park?
Areas marked as parking areas, on private property, in areas pre-approved by the police for a one-time basis. No parking along roadways, common areas, cul-de-sacs or any area that is not private property, and not designated as parking. Additional cars may be parked temporarily in the overflow parking across from the Lodge. Most homes allow two cars to park; Others need to shuttle.

Save the Lakes for the Wildlife
Boating, ice-skating or flotation devices are prohibited on all lakes and streams, with the exception of Phalarope Lake, on which, canoeing is allowed. Swimming/wading is prohibited in any lake or stream.

Catch & Release Fly Fishing
Phalarope Lake (by the Lodge) is the only lake at Black Butte Ranch open to fishing. Owners and registered guests may fly fish, using catch and release techniques. The Rec Center rents equipment, and sells licenses.

Toy Storage
Operation of motorcycles, snowmobiles, mopeds, or ATV’s, is prohibited at BBR. Such vehicles must be pushed/trailered from the gates to their lot at Black Butte Ranch. They may be temporarily stored on a first-come, first-served basis, based on availability in authorized areas. Check at the Welcome Center for details, 541.595.1252.

Please Recycle
Black Butte Ranch encourages sustainability and recycling, and provides a Recycle Center for owners and registered guests on McAllister Road. Deposit ashes in the ash bin, and add water.

Man and Woman’s Best Friend
Dogs should be leashed or in close voice command when off it’s master’s property, on common areas, or around recreational facilities, and clustered housing. Violation could result in impoundment. Please use a scooper to pick up after your pet.

Smokey Says...
Because we live in the forest, fire danger is always a concern. Fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited. Extinguish cigarettes and deposit only in ashtrays. Briquette BBQ’s are not allowed at the Ranch rental units at any time. Propane BBQ’s are permitted all year. Open burning is prohibited.

Firearms
The use or discharge of firearms is strictly prohibited, including guns, and bows and arrows.

Lose Something?
Lost & Found is located at the Welcome Center. Items from other Black Butte Ranch areas may be transferred to that location for convenience. Please call 541.595.1252 for information. Also check the BBR Police Department at 541.595.2191.

Designate a Meeting Place
When you arrive at Black Butte Ranch, it is recommended that you develop a “meeting place” for your family, such as your home or condo, to use in the event of an emergency. Should an evacuation become necessary, all recreation facilities will be closed immediately.

Emergency Communications
Cable TV Channel 3 provides information about Black Butte Ranch activities, and during emergencies, is an official information source. Recorded voice mail messages are also updated during emergencies at 541.595.1502 or 541.595.1504. Please check these sources and BlackButteRanch.com first for information.

For your Information
The Black Butte Ranch Police Department enforces all Oregon laws, including the Vehicle Code, as well as BBR Rules. They are located at 13885 Bishop’s Cap near the Community Center and the entrance to the Ranch. If you have an emergency, call 911. To contact the BBR police for non-emergency police business, call 541.693.6911.

1st Aid Help
The Black Butte Ranch Fire Department is staffed with Paramedics 24/7. They have a fully-equipped first aid room and Air Life can transport to St. Charles Hospital in Bend from the Ranch. Fire Department non-emergency: 541.595.2288, located at 13511 Hawks Beard, near the southern intersection of Bishop’s Cap and Hawks Beard.

Evacuation
You will be advised of an emergency evacuation if it is necessary to leave the Ranch. Barricades will be set up on roadways and emergency service teams will direct you to the nearest safe exit. When you have exited Black Butte Ranch, you will be directed to established rendezvous points, most likely the schools in the town of Sisters, 8 miles east on Highway 20. The overall evacuation process is under the immediate direction of the BBR Police Department and Deschutes County. The BBR Fire Department will assist other agencies in fighting any fires, or assisting where needed. Your full cooperation will aide efforts to protect the Ranch, and ensure safety.
