Important News from the Ranch

Wednesday, September 1, 9am

The Scott Mountain Fire is being managed using multiple strategies based on firefighter safety, fuel conditions, enhancement of Wilderness values, protection of the Anderson Creek Municipal Watershed, and Threatened Bull Trout habitat in the Willamette National Forest.

The fire has grown to 3,454 acres and is burning in heavy dead and downed fuels and will likely continue to burn until the snow arrives.  Firefighters have prepared containment lines outside the Mt. Washington Wilderness area.

The Scott Mountain Fire is approximately two miles NE of Scott Mountain and 15 miles west of Sisters and 14 miles NE of McKenzie Bridge. The fire was ignited August 19 from lightning during a lightning storm.

Closures: Highway 242 (The old McKenzie Highway) is open. Highway 126 is open and marks the boundary of the recreation closure area to the north and east up to the Deschutes/Linn County line.
