"Do Good - Feel Good" Spa Benefit for FAM

On March 16th, 2010 the Family Access Network (FAN) is partnering up with Anjou Spa, The Spa at Black Butte Ranch, Jinsei Spa, Shibui Spa and Sunriver Lodge Spa to help raise funds and awareness for FAN, by holding a “Do Good, Feel Good” Spa Day. Throughout the day 100% of the profits from services at the spas will be dedicated to FAN and its mission, of helping children and families in Central Oregon.
All funds raised during the March 16 event will help provide connections to essential services such as food, clothing, shelter, medical and dental care (including health insurance) and more through the FAN advocatesin all of Deschutes County.“We felt it was important for Black Butte Ranch and Five Pines Conference Center to team up and help raise money for our local Sisters Community”, stated Scott Huntsman, president & CEO, Black Butte Ranch and
Bill Willitts, owner of Five Pines Conference Center in a joint statement. Also stated, “The Sisters area has been designated as a severely distressed community and this event give us the opportunity for the community to support our children and families.”$100 per school year allows FAN to connect a child to basic-need services. Through the efforts of the Spa at Black Butte Ranch and Shibui Spa many deserving families will be protected through 2010.
FAN began in January 1993 and currently employs 22 advocates in 43 public schools (K-12) and two early childhood sites. FAN strives to improve lives by ensuring all children in Deschutes County have access to
basic-need services. FAN is unique to Deschutes County, utilizing advocates to efficiently reach and connect disadvantaged children and families with basic needs, such as food, shelter, and health care. During the 2008/2009 school year FAN connected over 7,800 children and their family members with food, shelter, health care and other critical services.
