The Best of Central Oregon Recreation

Whether you are visiting the Ranch or own Black Butte Ranch real estate, recreation is never ending when you have a central Oregon destination such as ours! All four seasons provide outstanding outdoor activities at the Ranch and in the surrounding Sisters country area!

Spring is a beautiful time to see the Black Butte Ranch wake up from the winter. Melting snow, gives way to outstanding hiking trails, bike trails*, bird watching and fishing. All of these are perfect activities to bring the camera along, as the pictures are outstanding in our central Oregon vacation destination.

During the summer the Ranch offers all the activities your family desires. Five swimming pools, 36 holes of mountain golf, 18 miles of bike paths, adventure recreation, kayaking, boating, horseback riding, trail rides and more. Summer vacation memories are at their best at Black Butte Ranch!

Fall provides some of the best Oregon golf and scenery imaginable within the state. With the warm glow of summer still lingering, golfers and outdoor enthusiasts have plenty of daylight. September in Sisters is filled with festivals and artistic events, and there's always something new to see. Photography in the Aspens, a photography workshop, takes place as the leaves begin to change in September and October. Tennis, biking and swimming continue to take place at Glaze Meadow Recreation Center and pool.

Winter provides a quiet time of tranquility at the Ranch. This is a time to find a place to sit by a crackling fire, share time with family and friends, while being inspired by the breath-taking views of snow covered Cascade Mountain peaks. Nordic skiing and snowshoeing takes place on the Ranch, while Hoodoo Alpine Ski area and other Oregon snow parks are a quick 5 miles up the road in the central Oregon Cascades.

* Some of the bike paths in Glaze Meadow will be closed during the golf course renovation and the course is closed to winter activity.  Click here to see a map of the closures.
