Architectural Review Information and Resources
The Architectural Review Committee is tasked with regulating the appearance of Black Butte Ranch in order to maintain value of the property and to foster the attractiveness and functional utility of the community. The ARC meets the second Thursday of the month, excluding December. Submittals are due 14 days prior to the next scheduled meeting of the committee, by 12:00PM to the ARC office, located in the Administration building at the Ranch.
Items needed to submit to the ARC
The following four items are necessary for a review by the ARC at Black Butte Ranch:
1. The ARC submittal form filled out, signed by the owner and received in its entirety. The committee is unable to accept faxed copies of this form. Submittals are due 14 days prior to the next scheduled meeting of the committee, by 12:00PM to the ARC office, located in the Administration building at the Ranch.
2. A deposit check matching the amount listed on the submittal form, signed by the owner.
3. One set of plans with the required items listed on the submittal form.
4. A stringline certification signed by a registered professional surveyor showing the designated build circle and your proposed addition or construction.

When stacking firewood please remember that the stack should not be so high that it
impedes safety and aesthetic conditions. Stacks should not be used to define property
lines or fencing and should be covered with brown tarps only. Please make sure your
wood is stacked in an orderly manner.
Landscaping Guidelines for Black Butte Ranch
Before any landscaping or the installation of an underground sprinkler system is allowed, a specific plan for the landscaping or the underground sprinkler system must be submitted and approved by the Architectural Review Committee.
Landscaping is not required except for restoration where there has been extensive disruption with the natural ground cover. All planting must be of indigenous species and lend a natural appearance to the home site.
All exterior lighting plans must be submitted to and approved by the Architectural Review Committee before installation. Exterior lighting must be indirect. The light source must not be visible. Colored light sources and colored glass is prohibited. Decorative lighting, other than Holiday lighting, is not allowed.
