CEC Upgrades
Central Electric’s meter change-out program may make it necessary for you to modify the area of your residence around the electricity meter base to ensure it is accessible.
CEC is converting all of its electricity meters to new, advanced meters, beginning at the Ranch this fall. About 70% of homes at the Ranch have some level of meter obstruction. (Typically boxes, framing, or siding that has been built around the electric meter to conceal it while keeping the usage display visible.) These obstructions will prevent the meter conversion without modifications to the home. They need to be accessible by Nov. 1.
Obstructions need to be removed or modified to ensure safe and efficient conversions, but they must be done so the co-op has continued access in the future, so technicians can test, maintain and repair the meter in compliance with Central Electric policies and national safety codes.
